Community-based behavioral health support for adults in the greater Lincoln area. MaineCare Section 17 services from a locally owned agency that has served this region since 2009.
Meaningful connections. Everyday skills.
Some things get better with talking. Other things get better with doing.
If you are an adult who is managing ongoing mental health needs, or you are caring for someone who is, you may have already tried outpatient therapy or medication management. Those things help. But sometimes the harder work is in the daily living: keeping a household running, making appointments, staying connected to people, managing the practical pieces of life that get harder when mental health is hard.
That work is what Section 17 community support is for.
A trained behavioral health professional comes to your home (or wherever works for you) on a regular schedule. They help with the things you want to work on. Behind them, a clinical director oversees the work and makes sure the support stays on track.
This is not therapy. It is not medication management. It is the practical, in-the-community layer of support that helps people stay stable, connected, and living the life they want.
We provide two kinds of Section 17 community support for adults.
Daily Living Support Services (DLSS)
Scheduled, in-home support to help adults maintain stability in their living environment.
DLSS is a good fit when an adult needs consistent presence to:
Community Integration Services (CIS)
Assertive engagement and skill-building to help adults connect or reconnect with the community.
CIS is a good fit when an adult needs outreach to:
If you are not sure which service fits, that is okay. Contact us and we will help figure it out.
Section 17 services are designed for adults (18 and older) whose ongoing mental health needs require more than outpatient care alone can provide. Most members are already working with a therapist, prescriber, or case manager, and need community-based support alongside that care to make the daily work of life more manageable.
If you are unsure whether you or someone you care about is a fit, contact us. We will help you figure it out, and if we are not the right match, we will tell you who might be.
You or your provider contacts us by phone or email.
We confirm we have received your information as soon as we can and let you know whether we can take the case. If we cannot, we tell you so you can find another option without losing time.
Joanna Preble, our Clinical Director, or a member of her clinical team conducts an initial screening. This includes a LOCUS assessment and a biopsychological assessment.
We build a plan with you (and your involved providers, if you want them included) around what you want your life to look like.
A behavioral health professional begins regular visits with you in your home or community. Sessions are scheduled around your life.
The person who comes to your home is a trained behavioral health professional with MHRT credentialing (MHRT/C for community integration, or MHRT-1 for daily living support). They are not working alone.
Behind every member's care is Joanna Preble, LCSW, LADC, CCS, who serves as MC's Clinical Director. Joanna supervises all clinical work, reviews every plan, and ensures the support each member receives stays aligned with what they actually need.
